Consumers recognise the Google brand, but still do not understand what Android is," according to Francisco Jeronimo, analyst, IDC. Though Android has won attention in the mobile industry lately, with Motorola and Sony Ericsson choosing it for their new top models, but consumers still show little interest toward smartphones running Google's Android, reports Reuters. At the end of September, 5.4 per cent of the smartphones in the region were powered by Google Android, up from 4.2 per cent three months earlier, but still dwarfed by market leader Symbian, which held a 48 per cent market share.
